What Is Composite Decking?

Our solid composite wood-plastic decking is made using a combination of both natural hardwood and synthetic materials. The results of this process are then turned into high-quality co-extruded deck boards that look more authentic than plastic decking and require less maintenance than normal wood. This product is considered the best of both worlds: like plastic decking, it’s practically maintenance-free, and yet it still has all the natural beauty and charm of traditional timber decking!
Cheap, hollow composite decking may seem like a good alternative to the more expensive solid composite decking, but this flimsy plastic will eventually cause you the problems you’ve tried so hard to avoid!

"We have been really impressed with how the deck has performed after being down for just over a year. We have three kids and a dog making good use of the deck area and it has been up to the challenge. We particularly like knowing that we don’t have to worry about splinters or warping which was one of the main reasons we chose BetterDeck

“From our first contact with BetterDeck, the service we received was exemplary - helpful, friendly yet professional. We liked what we saw in the samples that they promptly sent us, but what we got (grey, picture frame effect) exceeded our expectations! Many thanks to BetterDeck. (whom we regularly recommend to all who admire our beautiful deck)."

  • Carmel Walsh, Killarney, Co. Kerry
"BetterDeck’s composite decking is so much better than the slippery, wood deck that we had before. I found them easy to deal with. We are very happy with their service and products."

  • Paul Muldoon, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford
"Our composite deck has been down a little over 3 years. The deck is attached to our house and is at the same level as our floor indoors, so it’s constantly in use. The property is also 150 meters from the Atlantic Ocean, exposing the deck to mother nature. There isn’t any noticeable discoloration of the deck boards and the salt air doesn’t affect the material. We would have no problem recommending the BetterDeck products to family and friends."

  • James Wrynn, Dublin 6
"Very helpful company on guidance when buying. Put in a replacement deck and stairs three years ago after twenty years of frustrating cleaning and fruitless preservation efforts on a Canadian cedar wooden deck. A good scrub with a deck scrub twice a year brings the BetterDeck up like new every time. And not the slightest deterioration after three years.”

  • Joesph Carton, Slane, Co. Meath
“We luckily found Betterdeck after suffering the pain of dealing with a few other companies that promised everything and delivered nothing. Betterdeck was a god send assisting with the design and explaining the material. They offered suggestions on railing etc that we hadn’t even thought about. They even put in a gate so we could hide our bins underneath. The lead time for the material was perfect with no delivery issues".

  • Francis Beatty, West Cork.
"We had a very tired looking old timber deck which needed to be replaced badly, as some of the boards were in a bad state. The main reason for our decision in buying composite decking was, we didn’t have to refinish the deck every year! We looked at some other composite decking products at the time, but Betterdeck stood out for us, as we liked the reassurance of the 25-year warranty and they were the only company who could provide a high quality sub-frame that we were also very happy with.”
